Our Commitment
South Central Mississippi Works (SCMW), administered by the Central Mississippi Planning and Development District (CMPDD), is committed to making scmw.info accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We want every job seeker, employer, student, and partner to be able to find information and use our services online.
Our Standard
We work to make this website conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. This is the technical standard required for state and local government websites under Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (28 CFR Part 35, Subpart H).
This commitment also supports our obligations under:
- Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, as amended
- Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended
- Section 188 of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) and its regulations at 29 CFR Part 38, which require that communications with people with disabilities be as effective as communications with others
What We Have Done
- Tested pages with automated accessibility tools and corrected the problems found
- Updated colors so text and buttons meet WCAG contrast requirements
- Added a "Skip to main content" link for keyboard users
- Added text descriptions (alternative text) to images
- Underlined links in body text so they do not rely on color alone
- Removed outdated documents and media that were not accessible
We continue to review the site and fix issues as we find them.
