Intro to PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers)

Foundational Skills for Careers in Industrial Automation

This beginner-friendly course introduces students to the fundamentals of PLC systems used in industrial automation. Ideal for individuals looking to grow their skills in manufacturing, maintenance, or automation, this course covers real-world applications using GE industrial PLCs and hands-on learning.

Students will explore the core components of PLC systems, including:

  • Processors and input/output modules
  • DeviceNet and Profinet remote I/O communication
  • Basic ladder logic programming for controlling machines and processes

By the end of the course, students will be able to create and troubleshoot simple PLC programs to operate industrial equipment.

Pre-Requisite:

While no prior programming experience is required, students must have:

  • A basic understanding of electrical circuits
  • Completed a Basic Electrical course before enrolling

This ensures students can fully participate in hands-on activities and understand the real-world examples used throughout the course.
