Fiber Optics 1-2-3 is an instructor-led course designed for students who are new to fiber optics or want to strengthen their technical skills. Through engaging, hands-on instruction, students will gain a fundamental understanding of fiber optics — including how to work with cables, splicing, testing, and preparing for ETA certification.

This training opens the door to careers in telecommunications, utilities, construction, and IT infrastructure — all high-demand fields in Mississippi and beyond.

Course Topics Include:

  • Basic fiber optic theory & applications
  • Cable preparation & termination
  • Splicing techniques
  • Testing and troubleshooting
  • Safety and worksite readiness

Course Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces, at heights, or in physically demanding conditions
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings in future job settings
  • Should have a basic understanding of technical systems, IT, or system operations
  • Must be committed to attendance and participation
