This course is designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of welding through hands-on instruction in MIG (GMAW) and Stick (SMAW) welding techniques. Students will gain practical experience with real equipment, develop core welding skills, and earn an industry-recognized certificate of completion.

What You Will Learn:

  • Welding Safety and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Machine setup and settings for MIG and Stick welding
  • Rod classifications and appropriate selection for tasks
  • Gas metal arc welding (GMAW) fundamentals
  • Joint types, welding symbols, and torch angles
  • Hands-on practice with MIG and stick welding on actual materials

Course Prerequisites:

To ensure safety and course readiness, participants must meet the following:

  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Have a high school diploma or GED
  • Wear appropriate PPE:
    • Leather boots (preferably without laces; if laces, use spats)
    • 100% cotton shirts and pants (shirts must have no chest pockets or must have flaps)
